A new research centre on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that aims to position Italy among the leading countries in innovation and to support companies in digital transformation. This is the goal of the AI4Industry Foundation, led by economist Fabio Pammolli, interviewed by Francesco Rigatelli in La Stampa.

Italy and its industrial fabric are undergoing a profound digital transformation, and, for companies, it is essential to be able to exploit the generated information and increase their computing capacity. This is the context for the activities of the AI4Industry Foundation, based in Turin, which focuses on topics such as automation, industrial robotics, and data analysis.

As explained by its President Fabio Pammolli, the Foundation was born out of “a drive for innovation, to define Italy's positioning on AI and help companies that can benefit from the technology and an aggregator centre on the topic.” Working with strategic partners, the new entity aims to become a hub for talent and applied research, helping industry to strengthen its advanced technological capabilities, while recognising the insuperable limits of the human brain compared to machine learning.
