The laboratory studies robotic and automation technologies – integrated with computer vision, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and augmented reality – to develop solutions that can be used in production and maintenance settings, multi-domain tactics, disaster recovery, and remote intervention.
Intelligent Autonomous System
Research Unit
Robotics for production
The research unit develops robotic systems (based on Artificial Intelligence) that can work autonomously or with human beings (Human-Robot Teams) in complex applications. The robots will be highly flexible and able to be reconfigured to allow humans to execute, correctly and safely, highly demanding tasks or activities in hostile locations.

Robotics for unstructured environments
The unit studies the development of modular robotic technologies that can perform multiple functions and can reconfigure autonomously to carry out missions on uneven terrain. These systems, equipped with advanced prehensile and motion capabilities, will be able to carry out repair, research and construction tasks on Earth and in space applications.
