Main products in service in the country

Eurofighter Typhoon

Leonardo is supplying the Kuwait Ministry of Defence with 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. Leonardo Aviation Services is responsible of the Integrated Logistics Support, including Engineering Support, MRO&U, Supply Chain Management, as well as Pilot and Ground Crew Training. 

Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System

HIDAS is the Defensive Aids System fitted to the Kuwait Army AH-64 Apache fleet. The system utilises multi spectral sensors and pre-loaded mission data sets to give the aircrew comprehensive tactical pictures of the operating environment. The system offers optimum self-protection by rapidly identifying hostile weapon systems allowing the aircrew to initiate appropriate tactics and countermeasures.

Baggage Handling System

Leonardo supplied the Baggage Handling System for Terminal 4 at the Kuwait International Airport. The system was delivered and installed in 2018. 

Kuwait Airport Data Interchange Network

In 2013, Leonardo was awarded, by the Directorate General Civil Aviation, a contract for the supply and installation of hardware and software systems for the management of data traffic between multiple airport systems, including future systems.

Primary Radar & Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast System

In 2010, Leonardo was awarded, by the Directorate General Civil Aviation, a contract for the supply and installation of ATCR-33/S primary radar and ADS-B for air traffic control.

Air Surveillance Radar (ASR 1 & ASR 2)

In 2023, Leonardo was awarded the design, supply, and installation of new primary air surveillance radar systems near & long range (ASR 1 & ASR 2) at the Kuwait International Airport.

Low Level Wind Shear Alert System (LLWAS)

In 2023, Leonardo was awarded three projects for the design, supply and installation of the Wind Shear LIDAR warning system, the direct perturbation detection system and the CDWRN (Composite Doppler Weather Radar Network) at Kuwait International Airport.

Doppler Weather Radar (DWR)

Leonardo installed Doppler Weather Radar in Kuwait in 2002 in provision of real-time monitoring and analysis of weather conditions and forecasting for aviation safety. The system was upgraded in 2013 and fully operated for the support of real-time monitoring, disaster management and meteorological operations across the country.
