Main products in service with the country

Eurofighter Typhoon

Leonardo are supplying the Kuwait Ministry of Defense 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. The aircraft will have additional capabilities to aircraft previously delivered worldwide including the Captor-E radar.  The delivery of the aircraft will start in 2020 with a completion date of 2023.  Significant development of the new base at Ali Al Salem is underway with a large amount of the work already completed.

Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System

HIDAS is the Defensive Aids System fitted to the Kuwait Air Force Apache fleet. The system utilises multi spectral sensors and pre-loaded mission data sets to give the aircrew comprehensive tactical pictures of the operating environment. The system offers optimum self-protection by rapidly identifying hostile weapon systems allowing the aircrew to initiate appropriate tactics and countermeasures.

Baggage Handling System

Leonardo have supplied the Baggage Handling System for Terminal 4 at Kuwait International Airport. This new terminal has been built for use by Kuwait Airways to cope with the increase in passenger numbers. The system was fast-tracked and subsequently delivered and installed in 2018 and has been operational since. 

Kuwait Airport Data Interchange Network

This 2013 contract with the Directorate General Civil Aviation provided the supply and installation of complex hardware and software systems for the management of data traffic between multiple airport systems, including future systems.

Primary Radar & Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast System

This 2010 contract again with the Directorate General Civil Aviation provided the supply and installation of ATCR-33/S primary radar  and ADS-B for air traffic control.
