Responsible business conduct

Over the years Leonardo has built an integrated responsible business conduct model with the aim to prevent the risk of illicit practices, at all work levels and in any geographical area, by disseminating and promoting its ethical values as well as by defining clear rules of conduct and implementing effective control processes, in line with the requirements set forth by applicable laws and international best practices. The best practices include the "Common Industry Standards", Common principles against corruption of the companies operating in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sector (ASD - AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe) and the "Global Principles for Business Ethical Conduct" of the companies operating in the Aerospace,  Defence and Security sector (IFBEC - International Forum for Business Ethical Conduct).

In order to constantly improve its business conduct, Leonardo collaborates with organisations such as TRACE International and the Institute of Business Ethics.

Leonardo's integrated model of responsible business conduct is based on a system of common rules and internal codes, including the Charter of Values, the Code of Ethics, the Anti-Corruption Code, the Organisation, Management and Control Models adopted pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/01 by Leonardo S.p.A. and its Italian subsidiaries and, as to its foreign subsidiaries, the Compliance Programme adopted in line with local laws.

Continuous training

Leonardo invests in the training of its people with the aim of increasing awareness of expected behaviours and promoting a corporate culture based on compliance with the Company's rules and values through training, awareness-raising, and enhancement of the issue within the entire value chain. The achievement of this goal sees the Company's top management actively involved and participant, confirming Leonardo's tone from the top approach to the issues of ethics and integrity. Compliance with laws, transparency and management correctness, good faith, trust, and cooperation with stakeholders are essential to compete effectively and fairly on the market.

Training & awareness activity is carried out through the organisation of initiatives at several levels, differentiated according to the different categories of recipients, from the Board of Directors to the Top Management and employees, but also, outside the Company, to our commercial intermediaries. The courses are delivered in the reference language of the so-called "Courses of the Sciences". Domestic countries (Italian, English and Polish).

For years, the organisation of events such as the Compliance Council and the Compliance Workshops  with the participation of top management, top company levels and keypersons, has been an essential opportunity for discussion between the different realities of the Company and to raise awareness among employees on the risks in conducting business. The involvement of experts in the sector and representatives of institutions also gives these events a formative character with respect to the main national and international regulations and best practices of reference. The messages and topics explored in these forums are then reported within each division with dedicated workshops.
