Our capabilities and solutions
Helicopters
Nearly 50 Leonardo helicopters are operational in Canada for civil, public utility and military operations. Our dedicated network delivers certified support across the country. Our top-ranked customer support team provides advanced training and simulation packages and offers comprehensive maintenance plans tailored to each customer. Leonardo Canada is part of the Team Cormorant proposal to upgrade and expand the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Rotary Wing Search and Rescue Cormorant fleet.
Aircraft
Our aerostructures, made of composite or traditional alloys, fly over Canada with Airbus, Boeing and Dassault airplanes in support of commercial and general aviation. We have 40 ATR turboprop regional aircraft providing passenger and freight services across Canada. As world leader in the training sector, we are ready to offer Canada our integrated training system ability to cover the entire pilot training syllabus, from basic training on the new M-345 – designated Tutor II in Canada for the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) and Snowbirds Replacement Programs - into the basic-advanced phase with the M-346.
Electronics and Defence
We deliver solutions ready to serve the Canadian Armed Forces’ most complex requirements. We manufacture and support a broad range of air, land and naval integrated mission systems, radars and sensors, military communications, electro-optics, surveillance, and integrated combat systems. Through our local presence including Leonardo DRS, we have a record of service to the Canadian Government and armed forces for over 50 years with systems and services for air, land, naval and space applications.
Uncrewed Aerial Systems
We are the only manufacturer in Europe with a combined experience in platforms, remote control and sensor development. Our tactical Uncrewed Aerial Systems equipped with our proprietary sensors are in operations in 5 countries worldwide.
With tactical rotary and fixed wing, optionally piloted Rotary Uncrewed Air Systems (RUAS), aerial targets and as key partner in all major European Uncrewed Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) and Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) Uncrewed aerial vehicle initiatives, we are at the forefront of autonomous flight.
Cyber and Physical Security
In addressing public safety and security – ranging from counter-terrorism to the fight against organized crime, from emergency management response to critical infrastructures protection – we deliver comprehensive solutions integrating cyber intelligence, data mining, mission critical communications, video surveillance and video analytics, access control and anti-intrusion devices. These ‘systems of systems’ are tailored for a variety of complex security environments, connecting multiple sites and thousands of sensors.
Investigation Support & Threat Intelligence Systems
We provide systems and services to foresee and prevent cyber threats against the Canadian government, its critical infrastructures and enterprise organizations. We support law enforcement in proactive forensics gathering and investigations. We provide on premises solutions based on the monitoring and analysis of large amounts of open source data, in the deep web and dark nets, aimed at detecting cyber attacks being prepared and information illegally stolen and published on the web.
Space
We are ready to contribute to Canada’s future in Space leveraging our capabilities in the Electronics Division and the Telespazio and Thales Alenia Space JVs. Through the Space Alliance, the strategic partnership between Leonardo and Thales, we are investing in NorthStar Earth and Space Inc., a Montréal based information services company, bringing in business and technical expertise. Together, we provide solutions for the design, development and realization of a unique 40 satellite constellation based on double equipped satellites to provide Space Situational Awareness and Geo Information services.
