Finmeccanica has been awarded new contracts worth a total of about EUR 450 million through its companies AgustaWestland and Ansaldo Energia.

AgustaWestland, during the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget (Paris), has signed further contracts worth approximately EUR 130 million featuring a mix of helicopters including the AW119Kx and AW189 models. These latest orders add to the ones worth approximately EUR 200 million previously announced on the opening days.

Ansaldo Energia, the company jointly controlled by Finmeccanica and First Reserve Corporation, has been awarded contracts worth approximately EUR 320 million.

In detail, in Egypt, the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract signed by Ansaldo Energia and the Cairo Electricity Production Company, held by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, provides for the design and construction of an open cycle turnkey 600MW power plant near the “6th October” power plant located in the suburbs of Cairo. The plant will be situated near the existing one built by Ansaldo Energia in 2012.

In Chile, Ansaldo Energia sold to the Korea-based POSCO Engineering & Construction, which is the EPC Contractor, two 270 MW RT-30 steam turbines with their relative air-cooled TRX-L56 turbogenerators to be installed at AES Gener’s “Cochrane” plant located in Mejillones, in the region of Antofagasta.

Lastly, in a Temporary Companies’ Association with ABB, Ansaldo Energia obtained a turnkey order from Terna for the design, installation, commissioning, testing and subsequent 10-year servicing and maintenance of a synchronous condenser plant to be installed in Codrongianos, in the province of Sassari (Italy).
