Space, Leonardo prepares M&A on
new technologies

In the Space sector, European technological capacity is able to have its own sovereignty and independence from China and the United States. This is one of the topics discussed in Raoul de Forcade's article in “Il Sole 24 Ore” that describes the current scenario and Leonardo's objectives also through the words of Massimo Comparini, the new Managing Director of Leonardo's Space Business Unit and Chairman of Thales Alenia Space’s Supervisory Board.

“Space is rapidly changing in its application domains, which are a sort of connective tissue of today's societies and economies.” As Massimo Comparini emphasises, speaking about connectivity or Earth observation from Space, the various domains are accelerating, in support of a hyper-connected society and its increasing digitalisation.

Facing this reality, Leonardo aims to bring together the world of Space technologies, which is constantly evolving, and digital technologies. According to Comparini, it is essential to overcome the sector’s fragmentation on a continental level and, at the same time, foster opportunities for collaboration and exchange, particularly with the United States. A goal to be achieved also through the development of advanced technologies, such as quantum technologies and artificial intelligence, for infrastructure and services.
