A substantial presence from Italian-headquartered aerospace and defence company Leonardo at the World Defense Show included an impressive layout of four stands hosting its cross-domain product portfolio. This included the company presenting its rich heritage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where Leonardo has an established presence including representative offices and a subsidiary based in Riyadh.
Leonardo is a truly international organization that contributes to security and global progress in line with its strategic plan for 2030. To help reach this goal Leonardo has launched the Business Innovation Factory, an accelerator open to start-ups and talented innovators from Europe and the Middle East. On the second day of the exhibition, Leonardo’s CEO, Alessandro Profumo, participated in a Forum on Human Capital, speaking on how Leonardo is already supporting Saudi Arabia’s "Vision 2030" national transformation programme and how the company intends to continue investing, building skills and sharing knowledge to foster the current and future ambitions of the Kingdom.
Leonardo is a key partner in many vital, complex and strategic defence programmes. This includes the Eurofighter Typhoon (where the company leads the delivery of over 60% of the on-board avionics), and Eurodrone (recently contracted by OCCAR). The company is also actively engaged in the international Tempest future combat air system programme, via both its UK and Italy-based businesses.
At the static display in Riyadh, Leonardo’s C-27J Spartan Next Generation received a great deal of attention, reinforcing its category leadership in multi-mission flexibility. The company’s advanced defence electronics were also prominently featured, with guests able to find out about technologies that deliver high security within the most complex multi-domain contexts. Leonardo also highlighted its leadership in the rotary-wing domain, promoting its complete range of technologically-advanced platforms. These are able to meet the most demanding military and civil requirements. With a broad focus on cross-domain interoperability, the company also engaged visitors who were interested to hear about Leonardo’s expertise in the Cyber & Security domain, where it ranks among the leaders in the supply of complete integrated solutions.
