31 July 2024

The selection announcement for admission to the 2024/2025 academic year of the new Aerotech Academy Puglia, born from the collaboration between Leonardo, the Polytechnic of Bari and the University of Salento, has been published on the Polytechnic of Bari’s website. The advanced training course will take place, starting next October, at Leonardo’s production site in Grottaglie (Taranto). A class of about twenty students, with a bachelor's and/or master's degree in STEM subjects, will follow an advanced training course on breakthrough research topics and applications in the field of manufacturing industry.

The course will be structured in two main areas of study, “Aerostructures Core Technologies and Beyond” and “Automation, Industry 4.0 and Digital”. Approximately 75% of the class hours will focus on materials science and structural design and analysis in the aeronautical and space sector; the remaining 25% will be dedicated to the topics of digital transformation with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence applied to manufacturing. The programme, based on cutting-edge teaching methodologies, includes classroom training, on-the-job experiences, seminars, and testimonials from Leonardo’s industrial ecosystem.

The Aerotech Academy is a training model of excellence created for the first time in Campania, at Leonardo’s production site in Pomigliano d’Arco (Naples), in collaboration with the Federico II University, where the fourth academic year has just ended and for the fifth year the number of participants is expected to double. The trends in company placement are also excellent, with approximately 95 young people already hired as part of the four Campania editions. The training path of the Aerotech Academy Puglia is developed by Leonardo in collaboration with the University of Salento and the Polytechnic of Bari.

The Aerotech Academy of Grottaglie, which already hosts the Joint Lab with Syensqo (formerly Solvay) and the Leonardo MaTeRIA Lab (Materials Technology Research and InnovAtion Lab), will be part of the Leonardo Labs network, the company’s technological innovation laboratories.
