nEUROn

Demonstrating the maturity and the effectiveness of technical solutions for Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles

nEUROn is a demonstrator programme for the first European Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV). It is being developed collaboratively by France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Greece and Switzerland.

The programme seeks to address technological challenges in platform aerodynamics and composite structure, as well as low-observability and the capability to deliver weapons from an internal bay.

The first nEUROn flight took place on December 1, 2012 from the French experimental test centre at Istres. This was followed by other successful flights, including from the Decimomannu base in Italy. These test flights have provided important feedback on improved low-observability and overall command and control capabilities.

Leonardo is the second largest Tier-1 partner with a 22% stake. We contribute by developing a smart integrated weapon bay, the electrical system and various subsystems with advanced low-observable features.
