Global Online Travel Retailer to Connect to Leonardo Database for Hotel Visual Content
Toronto, Canada and Nuremberg, Germany – August 21, 2014 – Leonardo Worldwide, technology and online media company for the global hospitality industry, today announced that hotel.de AG has implemented seamless XML connectivity to Leonardo’s database of over 1.5 million images for over 100,000 hotels worldwide.
Previously, hotel.de accessed hotel visual content in the Leonardo database through Pegasus Solutions’ Hotel Content Database (HCD). Now, hotel.de has opted for a direct connection with Leonardo for hotel visual content, taking advantage of Leonardo’s full content library and advanced AWS Cloudfront hosting services.
Seamless image sourcing and processing
Under an agreement with the parent company, HRS – Hotel Reservation Service GmbH, hotel.de subscribes to Leonardo’s MediaConnect product, gaining access to over 1.5 million photos from the global travel industry’s largest hotel media library for over 100,000 GDS listed hotels globally. hotel.de will benefit from Leonardo’s advanced technology, accessing the content from hotlinks directed to Leonardo’s Amazon S3 Cloudfront servers, minimizing latency and disruption and improving the deliverability and display of hotel content to consumers and hoteliers accessing the content from anywhere in the world.
hotel.de will also benefit from the image sourcing and processing features included in the MediaConnect product, such as:
- Delivery of media in multiple formats and sizes along with meta-data including categories and captions.
- Brand and hotel certified content that is updated regularly to ensure accuracy and freshness of content on the hotel.de brand websites and minimize rogue image issues.
- Media sourcing through advanced XML connectivity based on industry standards from HTNG (Hotel Technology Next Generation) and Open Travel Alliance.
Hotel chains that subscribe to Leonardo’s VScape Digital Asset Management System will continue to use the system to manage their media on hotel.de. Due to the direct connectivity between Leonardo’s display technology and VScape, these chains will benefit from updates made to images in VScape directly.
Global travel network
As a result of the expanded agreement, hotel.de gains direct membership in Leonardo’s VNetwork, the most extensive travel website network in the global travel industry comprised of more than 120 direct connect travel websites and tens of thousands of forward distribution channels. With hotel.de in the VNetwork, hotels have the opportunity to reach and engage more travelers using this leading travel channel.
“By choosing a direct connection to Leonardo’s database of hotel visual content, hotel.de will further enhance the experiences of their millions of customers with visually engaging hotel shopping experiences that lead to increased engagement and conversions. Leonardo’s cloud-based digital technology also ensures a seamless and enhanced user experience for hoteliers managing and consumers accessing hotel visual content on this leading travel website,” said Mark Charlinski, Vice President Syndication.
“Having direct access to Leonardo’s extensive library of images will give our consumers significantly more clarity to enable them to make the hotel selection that is best for them.
