Leonardo Completes Agreement with Interactive Hotel Solutions

Online Travel Agency to Connect to Leonardo Database for Hotel Visual Content

Toronto, Canada and Springfield, MO – August 15, 2014 – Leonardo Worldwide, technology and online media company for the global hospitality industry, today announced Interactive Hotel Solutions (IHS), an online booking agency, has entered into a letter of intent for seamless XML connectivity to Leonardo’s database of over 1.5 million images for over 100,000 hotels worldwide.

Previously, IHS accessed hotel visual content in the Leonardo database through Pegasus Solutions’ Hotel Content Database (HCD). Now, IHS has opted for a direct connection with Leonardo for hotel visual content across its own network of websites in addition to its many affiliate partners, taking advantage of Leonardo’s full content library and advanced AWS Cloudfront hosting services. IHS will also support digital brochures for hotels subscribing to Leonardo’s VBrochure Online Merchandising System.

Seamless image sourcing and processing
Under the agreement, IHS subscribes to Leonardo’s MediaConnect product, gaining access to over 1.5 million photos from the global travel industry’s largest hotel media library for over 100,000 GDS listed hotels globally. IHS will benefit from Leonardo’s advanced technology, accessing the content from hotlinks directed to Leonardo’s Amazon S3 Cloudfront servers, minimizing latency and disruption and improving the deliverability of hotel content to consumers accessing the content from anywhere in the world.

IHS will also benefit from the image sourcing and processing features included in the MediaConnect product, such as:

  • Delivery of media in multiple formats and sizes along with meta-data including categories and captions.
  • Brand and hotel certified content that is updated regularly to ensure accuracy and freshness of content on the IHS travel websites and minimize rogue image issues.
  • Media sourcing through advanced XML connectivity based on industry standards from HTNG (Hotel Technology Next Generation) and Open Travel Alliance.

Hotel chains that subscribe to Leonardo’s VScape Digital Asset Management System will continue to use the system to manage their media on the IHS travel websites. Due to the direct connectivity, these chains will benefit from updates made to images in VScape on a more regular and consistent basis.

Engaging multi-media display
Hotel properties that subscribe to Leonardo’s VBrochure Online Merchandising System will further benefit by having the visual stories they create using their VBrochure licenses presented to travel shoppers on the IHS websites, resulting in:

  • Increased engagement with travel shoppers through curated stories with images, rich media and descriptive text displayed in topic-based categories.
  • Improved relevance and resonance with IHS’s customers through targeted stories.
  • Significant influence on booking decisions with visual content that makes the hotel stand out and communicates its true value.
  • Further amplification of stories through social sharing icons prominently displayed for top social media sites.

Global travel network
As a result of the expanded agreement, IHS gains direct membership in Leonardo’s VNetwork, the most extensive travel website network in the global travel industry comprised of more than 120 direct connect travel websites and tens of thousands of forward distribution channels. With IHS in the VNetwork, hotels have the opportunity to reach and engage more travelers using this leading travel channel.
