HITFIST® is a family of small-calibre turrets for land defence. The crewed version is a two-person power operated turret incorporating the Iatest technologies in the fields of electronics, protection, signature and Man Machine Interface (MMI).
The new uncrewed version integrates the mechanically powered and ITAR-free Leonardo 30mm X-GUN. The turret is exceptionally compact, light, and effective against all types of asymmetric threats with its integration of air burst ammunition.
HITFIST® defence systems for current and future scenarios
With over a century of experience designing and developing defence systems, Leonardo can meet current and future operational requirements by offering state-of-the-art technologies derived from continuous research and development and experience gained in operational scenarios of varying nature and intensity. The technologies available for land defence include the 105 or 120 mm HITFACT® and 25 or 30mm HITFIST® turret families, available in both crewed and uncrewed versions.
Certified in compliance with NATO standards, combat proven, and NGVA (NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture) compatible, the HITFIST® turret integrates the latest electronics, armament and sensor technologies. Today, over 800 of the family’s units serve in tracked and wheeled vehicles, such as the Italian Army’s DARDO and VBM Freccia, and wheeled vehicles of two European armies.
The turret provides high flexibility in terms of weight and accessories and can be integrated into different classes of vehicles. The crew comprises a tank leader and gunner who, supported by state-of-the-art electronics, gain a high level of awareness of the tank’s operational scenario. They can react with readiness and flexibility enhanced by artificial intelligence algorithms.
Equipped with state-of-the-art anti-mine and anti-IED systems, the HITFIST® turrets feature STANAG 4.569-compliant ballistic protection that can be tailored to customer requirements.
The latest addition to the family, the HITFIST® UL (Uncrewed Light), incorporates the Leonardo 30mm X-GUN, the new ITAR-free and electrically powered weapon entirely developed in-house with innovative and patented technologies.
Extremely compact and light, the new turret can be installed on all vehicles with stringent weight requirements, such as amphibious ones. By using air burst ammunition, it is effective against all types of asymmetric threats, such as helicopters and drones, with a firing rate of up to 200 rounds per minute. The innovative in-vehicle console simplifies maintenance and control of the turret itself.
